Sale marks breeders clubs 40th year

PRICES reached 2700gns when the North Devon Holstein Friesian Breeders Club staged a special evening sale at Clovelly to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Buyers travelled from as far away as Wiltshire to support the event, helping 28 head average £1055.

But topping the sale was Loford Black Marlies 7th, a yearling heifer by Black. Consigned by Michael Wade, Hartland she was bred from three generations of VG cows and went to R Tucker, Barnstaple. Four heifers sold for over 2000gns. At 2400gns Thuborough Flora 21st, a Mark Adam daughter from W &#42 Ley and Partners sold to Lanhydrock Farms, Bodmin. And at 2000gns, the freshly calved Benchmark heifer Silverpark Bench Pumpkin 3rd from G I Alford and Partners, went to Wiltshire-based Liberty View Holsteins.

Lanhydrock Farms also paid 2000gns for Kimland Hokes Ilma, an Etazon Hokes in-calf heifer. (Kittows)
