Saler impacts at N of E club

ALL three highest-priced bulls at the North of England Saler clubs show and sale were by the imported sire Impact.

The event at Carlisle saw nine bulls average £1440 and top at 2200gns.

Buyers looking for the type of bulls to produce replacement suckler females were determined to secure sires with conformation and size.

Those priorities produced the best trade for Fenwick G Jacksons January 1996-bred Cory Leal from his herd in Roxburghshire.

Leal is out of a cow by Bruno – one of the breeds most influential sires – and was the first of a trio of good youngsters by the French imported sire Impact.

This bull is noted for his width and conformation and emerged from the French breed societys testing station at Sansac Veinazes in 1994 with exceptional performance figures.

He stood male champion and reserve supreme under judge Billy Swainson (Carlisle). Buyers at 2200gns were R and L Howat, Hawick. (Harrison and Hetherington). &#42
