Salop estate for £1.5m
MARKETED in late 1994, the recently sold Buildwas estate in Shropshire generated considerable national interest.
Although it was offered in up to 19 lots by agent Carter Jonas, the 1075-acre estate, near Ironbridge, was bought as a whole by an Englishman for a figure that was substantially in excess of the £1.5m guide.
Three tenanted farms totalling 525 acres produce an annual rental income of £50,000, and although without a principal house there are seven cottages.
"The purchaser intends to maintain Buildwas as an agricultural and sporting estate, and plans to keep the 250 acres of vacant farmland in-hand," says Richard Gaynor of agents Carter Jonas.
