SCATS Grain profits pre-tax

SCATS Grain has announced pre-tax profits of 353,000 – before exceptional items – on a turnover of 111m for the year ending 30 June, 2000.

The company was formed as a separate legal entity in July 1999, following the acquisition of Continental Grain and Lincolnshire-based BDR.

In July it acquired Countrywide Farmers grain business, making it the UKs largest farmer-controlled company in this sector.

The result was described as encouraging by managing director Tim Pollock, given the poor quality 199 harvest which limited export opportunities through its Southampton export terminal.

“The BDR acquisition performed well, opening up a wider range of added value markets for the benefit of our customers, pool members and associated grain groups,” he added.
