Scots organic farmers face aid changes
THE Scottish parliament plans to make several changes to the organic aid scheme.
These include: a higher rate of payment for improved grassland – £370/ha against £250; a new category of land available for arable aid payment; a combined area limit for these two categories of 300ha (741 acres); no change in to the rough grazing/unimproved grassland payment of £37 per hectare, but with a separate area limit of 1000ha (2,470 acres).
The changes are being made in line with changes in European Union regulations. They will apply to all those who enter the scheme after the new rates come into operation.
