Scots spud men need harder sell

SCOTTISH potato growers need to be more aggressive at marketing their products if they are reverse the decline in consumption.

The British Potato Council has just launched a £1 million campaign to promote the potato. But Professor Annie Anderson of Dundee University said the industry had not convinced the consumer of the benefits of the produce grown on Scottish farms.

Potato consumption has dropped by 30% in the past decade.
