Scots to be heard on forestry
THE Scottish public is to be given a say in the future shape of policy for the countrys forestry industry.
Minister Lord Sewel has launched a consultation exercise that will allow the new Scottish parliament to set its priorities for the forestry sector.
More than £1.5 billion is expected to be invested in the sector which employs 10,000 in nurseries, haulage, woodland management, and wood processing.
Money will be invested in new sawmills, wood-based panel lines, pulp and paper manufacturing and electricity generation from forest by-products.
