Scots YFC chief warns on protectionism
A RETREAT into protected markets is not going to save the Scottish farming industry, argues Willie Lang, the new president of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC).
Speaking to The Scotsman.he says identifying a niche using schemes such as farm assured quality is the best means of securing a foothold for the future.
Mr Lang maintains his free market stance with regard to subsidies. He is against them and urges the need to reduce dependence on them.
The new president farms 202ha (500 acres) at East Campsie, Lintrathen, Angus.
