Scottish agri-environment schemes to merge
SCOTLAND is to merge is environmental care and conservation schemes from 2000 at the earliest. This would take in the Environmentally Sensitive Areas, programme, the Countryside Premium Scheme and the Organic Aid Scheme.
The merger would move in tandem with the European Commissions Agenda 2000 package of internal reforms, said Lord Sewel, Scottish minister for agriculture and the environment.
He said the new merged scheme would command “the broadest possible degree of consensus”.
