Scottish meat industry takes to training

ALISTAIR DONALDSON, chairman of the Meat Training Council (Scotland) is impressed with the improvement in staffs skills in meat processing and poultry processing.

More than 80 meat businesses throughout the country have initiated training leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

The Meat Training Council has been awarded European Union support of £76,000 over two years for various training initiatives.

Mr Donaldson said: “It is a great credit to the industry that at a time when trading conditions and tighter regulatory controls are placing the sector under severe pressure, there is a strong commitment to the development of staff.”
