Scottish Milk acts to save 2ppl

SCOTTISH MILK has shaken up its transport arrangements in a move which will save it £1 million a year and create the opportunity to pay its members 2ppl more for their milk.

The farmers co-op is reducing the number of mainland milk fields from 10 to six. Contractors are to be allowed maximum flexibility on collection times and night collections.

Scottish Milk reorganised its operations three years ago when it disbanded its fleet of tankers and contracted out its collection system.
