Scrapie aid £23.87

COMPENSATION for sheep and goats slaughtered in September because they are believed to have scrapie will be £23.87 an animal if the disease is confirmed.

The figure is based on the average cull ewe market price in July.

For animals slaughtered but subsequently found not to be infected, the compensation will either be £23.87, or up to £400 in cases where the owner can provide evidence to prove an animals market value.

The compulsory slaughter was introduced on July 29. &#42
