SCU income plea

CROFTING has ably shown its capacity to retain populations in remote localities, the Scottish Crofters Union says.

But if the Highland economy is to improve and expand, an active and vibrant crofting sector must be developed and sustained.

In its response to the Crofters Commissions consultation on the role of crofting in rural communities, the SCU says that must be achieved by increasing the opportunities for crofters to increase their incomes from within the croft and local community. &#42
