Search starts for farming leaders

By FWi staff

A SEARCH is on for ten professionals from the agricultural industry to participate in a special course designed to help future leaders for the sector.

The Institute of Agricultural Management is staging a course of three training modules in Berkshire, London and Brussels.

It will examine topics such as whether GM products should be widely adopted and whether a big increase in organic farming is feasible for UK agriculture.

Course director John Alliston, of the Royal Agricultural College, said he wanted to find individuals to take farming forward to a prosperous future.

He said: A leader in the present situation needs considerable knowledge of the rural sector and the ability to communicate effectively with people.

Anyone wishing to nominate a candidate or apply in person should telephone Jean Buckland on (01285) 889873.
