Seed clean boost

MOBILE seed cleaners will be busier than normal this autumn due to huge interest in farm saved rapeseed, now its glucosinolate content no longer needs checking.

"We process significant quantities of rape every year, but demand for this season is going through the roof," says Bill Eaton of CYO Seeds. "The withdrawal of the compulsory check provides the opportunity for growers to make substantial cash savings. For a 100 acre crop drilled at 3kg/acre this could be as much as £1000."

He also expects farm saved cereals will exceed 40% of the overall market this season. &#42
