Selection lifts margins
SELECTING beef bulls with high breeding values improves margins by increasing growth rates and yields of saleable lean meat, claims Richard Fuller, manager of JSRs Givendale Farm, York, who will be speaking at the Beef for the Market event at Stoneleigh. He will show how the introduction of performance recording and best linear unbiased prediction technology six years ago has given him a powerful selection tool to accurately identify animals of high genetic merit.
