Sentry reports £1m trading loss
By Farmers Weekly reporters
SENTRY Farming has reported a trading loss of more than £1 million, blaming continued price pressure on the strong Pound and appalling weather.
Actual pre-tax losses for 1998 totalled £426,000, after allowing for the sale of Friarsthorne Farm, Norfolk.
The loss compares with a pre-tax profit of £94,000 in 1997, and £1.74m in 1996.
About half of the companys contracts, many of which were agreed in more lucrative times, are up for renewal.
