Set-aside still 5%
SET-ASIDE will stay at 5% for the 1997/98 crop year, after agreement by EU farm ministers in Brussels this week.
Arable farmers in the Scottish non-LFA region will also be encouraged by the councils decision to end penalty set-aside. This has cut their support for several seasons as a result of plantings exceeding the regional base area. *
