Setting off alarm bells
SECURITY is big business but not perhaps as big as the "industry" it is designed to prevent. One of the latest devices to enter the fast-growing security systems market comes from Northants-based Custom Electronics.
Called the Multi Equipment Alarm, it comprises a small battery powered sensor unit which, hidden in or on a vehicle, starts transmitting a signal to an alarm unit when it is moved. The alarm unit can be placed up to 50m away in, say, an office or farmhouse.
A feature of the system is that a single alarm unit can be used by a number of sensor units each hidden on different machines.
Activation and deactivation of the sensors is through the use of a key-fob transmitter. *
