Shares in Northern
DAIRY farmers supplying Northern Foods direct will soon be receiving shares in the company to the value of 0.5p/litre.
A farmer supplying 500,000 litres a year will therefore get an allocation worth £2500. The shares were bought on Jun 13, with Northern standing the transaction costs. At a price of about 185p each, this would give the same farmer about 1350 shares.
The shares will be transferable from the moment certificates are received in early July. But Northern is hoping, "in the spirit of partnership", that farmers will remain long term shareholders. *
