Sheep-racing world rocked by scandal

THE up-and-coming sport of sheep racing has been hit by a scandal involving a sheep which was kidnapped and sabotaged with red dye.

David Selton, the owner and trainer of a six-year-old Suffolk-cross wether, Dewent Devil, had his prize animal taken from its paddock in Morland, near Penrith.

The sheep was subsequently returned bright red.

Mr Skelton, who runs one of Britains few sheep-racing circuits, believes he was the victim of a punter who had been fleeced by the bookies.
