Shift from agriculture puts pressure on Israels high-tech sector
ISRAELS shift away from traditional sectors such as textiles and agriculture is partly blamed for a high-technology crisis in the country.
The countrys high-tech industries are suffering a recruitment crisis as the sector becomes increasingly important for the nation in relation to farming.
Companies are producing jobs much faster than universities are producing graduates. This is despite a climb in the countrys unemployment level from 6.7% in 1996 to 8% today.
