Show career for Lottie considered

A SUMMER show career could still be on the cards for Westgate Approval Lottie, the 9500kg second calver that topped the reduction sale from Devon breeders Mrs D W Beer and Sons Coldridge herd of Holsteins at 4800gns.

Lottie, who was bought by the Beer family last year for 3600gns, was sold to Paul Andrews, Bruton, Somerset. She was AId in March to Carol Prelude Mtoto.

The herd, one of the highest yielding in the south west with a cow average of 9231kg, offered 210 head and saw 15 lots make 1000gns and over.

Mr Brian Brumby, who was herd manager at Coldridge for eight years and now runs his own herd on the Isle of Man, paid 1800gns for Coldridge Leadman Duchess, a third calver. In-calf heifers peaked at 1400gns for a Jolt daughter and yearlings sold to 1350gns for a Patron heifer.

Averages: 127 cows £740; five calved heifers £727; 24 in-calf heifers £710; 13 yearling heifers £418. (Greenslade Taylor Hunt). &#42
