Siberia performs again

DORSET farmer Nick Tory has produced a record yield with feed barley Siberia.

Using GPS on the combine, yield average is 11.4t/ha (4.6t/acre), with certain spots on the field yielding 13.8t/ha (5.6t/acre). It is the first year he has grown it and is very pleased. Previous varieties would average 8.6t/ha (3.5t/acre).

The farm is based on chalk and they hope to move on to Soissons winter wheat next week.
