Simms on top at Perth sales
SIMMENTAL bulls with high beef values topped Perth bull sales last week.
Those with beef values over SM50 averaged 4042gns, others exceeding SM41 averaged 3459gns, and those over SM30, 2352gns. But bulls with a beef value under SM23 averaged only 2146gns.
Top price was 12,000gns for a bull in the top 1% of the breed. Its beef value is SM53. The champion, which made 6500gns, has a beef value of SM69.
"Evidence points clearly to the fact that purchasers at Perth were prepared to spend more money on bulls with good beef values," says Signets Simon Taylor.
