Sir David Naish appointed chairman of Aubourn Farming

SIR David Naish, who retired earlier this month after seven years as president of the National Farmers Union, is to become a non-executive chairman of Aubourn Farming.

Aubourn Farming – a farm management group – is a subsidiary of the FPDSavills group and manages 8,000ha in the East Midlands. It also operates agronomy and advisory divisions.

The group has expanded over the past two years. It has opened new satellite offices in Northamptonshire and Staffordshire as part of the companys drive to become a national farming and advisory business.

The appointment of Sir David comes after the groups search to find a new chairman to succeed Sir Henry Nevile, who died in October 1996.

Sir David said: “As a local farmer, I have admired the growing reputation of Aubourn, so I was especially pleased to be given the opportunity to work with them to help to develop their future growth.”

Philip Wynn, managing director, said: “I am delighted to welcome Sir David to our Board and know that his extensive knowledge and exposure across the farming and food industry will be invaluable.”
