Sire stock set to dominate Kelso

ALMOST 6000 rams will go under the hammer at this years Dectomax Kelso Ram Sales to be held on Sept 13.

Event organiser The Border Union has released details for its 168th sale, which has attracted entries from 358 consignors, located all over the British Isles.

Europes biggest one-day ram sale will be dominated again by terminal sire breeds, with a total of 2635 Suffolk rams passing under the hammer, 1688 Texel entries and 350 Charollais.

Of the crossing sire breeds, there will be 664 Bluefaced Leicesters, plus representations from another 10 pure breeds and crosses.

Last years sale was cancelled because of foot-and-mouth – the first time the sale has not been held in its 166 year history. &#42
