Slaughter confusion

CONFUSION over casualty slaughter arrangements has led to the NFU repeating guidelines for producers with cattle over 30 months old and needing treatment.

"When an animal is in pain the vet must be called and if the animal has to be destroyed the vet will produce a certificate," says NFU livestock adviser Chris Peeler.

This is the key to payments and says that, had the animal not been over 30 months old, it would have been fit for human consumption. Once the certificate is issued call 0800-525890 to arrange transport. &#42
