Slave chairs Gwent group

RAGLAN YFC member Gary Yeomans (25) is the new county chairman of the Gwent federation – he also fetched a good price when offered for sale!

Gary, a former Harper Adams College student, farms with his family at Wonastow, near Monmouth. He is a former Raglan YFC chairman and has taken part in most club activities. He also enjoys equestrian ones. And his fencing skills are in demand.

With fellow Raglan members Ed Evans and Mark Spencer he fetched the highest bid of the night when auctioned in the slave/promise auction run to raise funds for Gwents Country Fayre. The trio offered a days fencing which was snapped up for £145.

A total of 30 slaves were forward offering services from general farm work to child minding. They even sold the county organiser, Shirley Hughes, to cook Sunday lunch for six at the purchasers home.

The auction raised almost £2000 to support the fair which will take place at Usk College on June 21.

Gwent federations new county vice-chairman is self-employed farm secretary Jackie James from Langwm and Llansoy YFC.

Gwent federations new chairman is Wonastow dairy farmer Gary Yeomans.
