THE Royal Smithfield Club has named four finalists for its annual award to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the meat industry.
David Hill, chairman of Devon National Farmers Union, has been nominated for his work promoting the Triple S Ranch company.
Former Smithfield Club president Frederick Mallion, who has spent his life working in the meat trade, is also nominated.
The other nominations are poultry and sheep processor David Maunder; and UK Meat Industry Training Council chairman Alan Stevenson.
The winner of the award – who will be presented with the Bicentenary Perpetual Trophy – will be announced on Saturday (1 December).
The Smithfield club annual industry dinner will be held the same day after the second National Festival of Meat at Smithfield Market in London.
