Snow and ice didnt freeze out the fun…

THE night I arrived at the Ram Inn, Lampeter was extremely cold and the snow was falling thick and fast. I had just skidded over the mountain from Llandovery, probably being one of the last cars to make it!

Lampeter FWC members made a supreme effort to be there for their quiz evening – a small band but what fun we had!

A game had been devised involving throwing darts – I hadnt played for years – and answering questions in various categories marked on the dart board. At the end of the evening prizes were awarded to the winners but even that was not straightforward and darts had to be thrown again – and there was only one of us who was any good.

I spent the night nestled down with not one but two hot water bottles, glad to be snuggled down as I could hear noises in the neighbouring lambing sheds.

Come the morning I beat a hasty retreat back over the border even though only one lane was open on the M4 in places.
