Snugs for when sows want to be alone

SOWS can rest and feed without interference from others in Sow Snugs, claims manufacturer David Green Fabrications.

It claims Sow Snugs are a low-cost, high-welfare, movable housing system for dry sows that are fed individually, inside or out, and that they can be used on slatted floors or straw.

The Snugs are built from tubular steel and exterior grade plywood. The design includes a unique folding flap, hinged for two way operation. When the sow enters the flap folds inwards at the centre and rotates upwards at the top hinge. The flap can be locked from the feeding side for cleaning out or feeding.

Basic cost is from £225 a sow place (01608-650399).
