Solar power helps fill water troughs

THE problem of pumping water into troughs in remote areas where no power is available has been solved by British Waterways ecologists and engineers, using solar power.

Engineers have installed the unique solar power water trough, designed by ecologist Oda Dijksterhuis for use on the Kennet and Avon Canal.

It will allow cattle to drink where no other water supply or power to pump water exists, while protecting wildlife and water vole habitats. &#42
