Solid Limousin trade peaks at 3000gns in NI

LIMOUSIN sires strengthened their support in Northern Ireland last week when a "rock solid trade" in front of a packed ringside took bidding to 3000gns twice.

First to make the top call was M Rainey, Co Tyrone, to secure the days champion, an eye-catching son of Mereside Crackerjack, Craigatoke Lenny, from Martin Conway, Omagh, Co Tyrone.

The same herd also won the pairs title partnering Lenny with a smart Duc son that went on to make 2100gns to S Chesney, Co Down.

A son of the C &#42 K Adams show cow Woodside Eve, from his herd at Holywood, Co Down, also made 3000gns. Sired by Hydesville Commander, Cronshill Legend had a Beef Value of 38 and shared the top price selling to by J McCann, Castlewellan, Co Down.

Leading the females in the show classes, judged by Bobby Jones, Dublin, was John and Samantha Allens Derg Jolt, a daughter of Mereside Filipo and sold in-calf to Beeches Innes. She made 2600gns to R Wilson, Co Fermanagh.

Bulls averaged £1752 and heifers £1505. (Automart)n
