Sounding out those thieves

A SENSITIVE listening system is the latest device to enter the armoury of those attempting to prevent theft and vandalism occurring on farms.

Marketed by Northants-based Custom Electronics, it has been designed to detect unusual sounds – sounds of people talking, vehicles on the move, doors or gates being opened – and filter out normal background noises. Set up in a field or farm yard, the unit is linked by cable to the house. Should the cable be cut, an alarm sounds. Prices start at £169.

Listening for intruders with the Field Monitor. This unit is linked to a security light.
