Stock mart pair form NW alliance

THE H&H Kendal Partnership has formed a strategic alliance with Lancaster Farmers Auction Mart in a bid to secure a profitable future for livestock marketing in the north-west.

The new alliance has been set up to develop a vision for the long term operation of livestock markets in the area, and a number of immediate aims have already been agreed. It follows a similar agreement reached in January, when Harrison and Hetherington, which owns the UKs biggest livestock auction mart at Carlisle, formed a partnership with Kendal Auction Mart.

H&H chief executive, Trevor Hebdon, said the alliance will look at all mediums of marketing, including private sales, website trading and treaty work.

"We believe there are tremendous opportunities to further develop the marketing of livestock in south Cumbria and north Lancashire," he said. "The formation of the alliance is only the start of the challenges that lie ahead." &#42
