CHAROLAIS bulls met a storming response from cattlemen at Portadown, at the Northern Ireland breed clubs fixture, where prices reached 3750gns.
Collecting his first breed championship on the day and later the highest price was Maguiresbridge breeder Roger Morrison with his Lisdrum Morris. By the successful sire Grove Enterprise and out of a Bowerhouses Topper dam, he heads for Co Tyrone with Alec Gordon.
Bidding kicked off strongly with a 3050gns call from Geoffrey Armstrong, Co Fermanagh, for Brian and William McAllisters (Ballymena) Burnside Moonbeam. This son of the widely-used Oldstone Egbert has a set of useful performance figures and a Beef Value of 20.
Co Fermanagh breeders Wilfred and Edwin Bothwell saw their Drumagoland Maradona stand reserve supreme and realise 2550gns to James Smyth, Co Antrim. Ken Veitch, Co Fermanagh, took 3000gns for an Allanfauld Vagabond son from his Drumlone herd and 2400gns for his reserve junior champion by Brigadoon Ulsterman.
