Strong demand for Holsteins

HOLSTEIN breeders shrugged off the dairy industrys problems and invested confidently in stock bulls bred from some of the worlds leading cow families, taking bidding to 4200gns at Lancaster.

There were buyers for 44 of the 60 bulls offered, to level the trade at £1108.

A pedigree that included four generations of EX was enough to take bidding to its height for Lancashire breeders John and Doreen Loftuss Weeton Novice. By Kemview Vanetas Vision and out of the 13,675kg show cow Shoremar Tab Neoma, Novice met spirited bidding. Successful buyers were Bradbury and Brookes, Uttoxeter.

Maternal brothers from the Weeton herd took first and second in the production/inspection class. Weeton Balfour (Mattie G x Inspire Balise) has a PIN +117 and realised 2600gns to G F McArthur and Co, Moray, Scotland.

Weeton Barbour (PIN +116), a half-brother by Lord Lily, made 1700gns to T and AW Wadsworth, Cumbria. George Moorhouses Aireburn Air-Raid sold at 2300gns to R and J Breeze, Llanfyyrnach, Pembrokeshire. (Norton and Brooksbank with Lancaster Auction Mart) &#42
