Students take know-how test

KEEN competition in the RABDF-organised Dairy Student Award is promised at the Euro-Event. Six finalists, each representing a different UK agricultural college, will be tested on their management, feeding, and breeding know-how to compete for the £500 first prize.

In the Dairy Pentathlon, a team from Canadas 4-H club, the equivalent of our YFC movement, is entered against six UK teams. The contest combines feeding and breeding with stock judging, showing, and clipping elements.

Last years winning team from the Holstein Friesian Society will be back to defend the title. Sponsors are Dalgety Agriculture and the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers.

To be launched this year, and organised by the RABDF at the show, is a competition to find outstanding dairy herd managers. This new award is sponsored by Greenacres. Details available at its stand in cattle shed 13. &#42
