Suffolks on song…

A PAIR of outstanding Suffolk ewe lambs from veteran Earls Court showman, Jack Bulmer, defeated the continentals to lift the supreme sheep championship.

Judge, retired Yorkshire farmer Allen Eastwood, labelled the Suffolks "simply outstanding". "They have tremendous length but even their hindquarters and overall finish was miles ahead of anything else in the line-up," he said.

Mr Bulmer runs 180 pedigree Suffolk ewes near Malton. His May-born ewe lambs weighed 50kg apiece and were sired by Lauderdale Lovejoy, a ram that cost 4000gns and also gave Mr Bulmer reserve champions in the butchers lamb section.
