A SHROPSHIRE farmers campaign to help combat rural suicide has won national recognition.
Clifford Evans, Drury Lane Farm, Minsterley, established his "set in rural isolation" project in 1993. The initiative beat 325 other entries to win a Health Alliance Award from the Department of Health, in the mental health category. The prize of £2000 will be used by the group to help with everyday running costs, currently met by volunteers.
The projects success is demonstrated by the drop in suicides in the area from 27 two years ago, to five this year. *
