Suicide fear grows

HEALTH professionals fear the BSE crisis may lead to a sharp rise in depression and suicide among farmers.

In Wales the Clwydian Community Care Trust has already reported several hospital admissions over the weekend of farmers or those connected with the beef trade. The advice is to phone CALL (Clwyd Advisory and Listening Link) on 0800-132737. The free service is open from 7pm to 11pm on Thursdays and Fridays and from noon to midnight on Saturdays and Sundays

The Samaritans, which launched rural outreach in recent years, is also expecting an increased number of calls on 0345-909090. &#42
