Super-broccoli fights cancer
SCIENTISTS have created a “super-broccoli” to help prevent colon cancer.
The new variety contains up to 100-times more of a chemical which helps neutralise cancer-causing substances in the gut than ordinary broccoli.
New Scientist magazine reports that a team at the John Innes Centre in Norwich cross-bred the normal vegetable with a wild Sicilian relative to create the “super broccoli”.
The vegetable could be in the shops in two years.
