Supermarket beef-margin report delayed

LONDON Economics, the research company commissioned by Tesco, is not expected to release its report on profits in the beef industry until late May or June.

There is a suspicion that the company will be unable to come up with clear findings because the true value of beef to retailers selling thousands of other lines will be almost impossible to isolate.

Beef traders say this will make it hard to confirm that supermarkets are making money out of beef.

Some farmers have told London Economics that multiples are making more money rather than less.
