Sweeper on field

MAJOR Engineering, based at Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo used the Ploughing Event to launch a new sweeper collector. With a working width of 2.3m (9ft) the hydraulically powered unit has been designed to be attached to either the back of a tractor or to the end of a loader boom.

Features include a self-levelling brush and a built in ground clearance – a combination which is claimed to prevent objects fouling the underneath of the machine before they are swept into a hopper. Major says that inclusion of a flicker plate ahead of the brush increases the efficiency of the machine significantly.

A 140-litre (30gal) tank supplies water which is sprayed into the sweeping area to help prevent a build up of dust.

Options for the £4500 sweeper include a hydraulically driven gully brush.
