Taskforce to tackle bug
SCOTLANDS new E coli 0157 taskforce, charged with reducing risks to public health from the bug, met for the first time this week.
The nine members of the taskforce include scientists and public health experts, plus Dumfriesshire hill farmer Rog Wood and Barti Synge from the Scottish Agricultural Colleges veterinary science division.
The group was established by the Food Standards Agency and the Scottish Executive as a result of recent evidence showing a shift from food-borne to environmental and animal-related sources of infection. *
