CHESHIRE tenant farmer, Alan Hardy has won his fight against two planning applications put forward by his landlord.
The applications were rejected by Macclesfield Borough Council after the Tenant Farmers Association backed Mr Hardys case.
Richard Mumford, the TFAs appointed valuer said the applications would have closed down Mr Hardys pig breeding unit at Lindow End Farm, Mobberley. "This would have been devastating to Mr Hardy, his family and his business, as the compensation would have been totally inadequate," he added.
Planning policy guidelines require planners to carefully consider representations made on behalf of tenants.
But the TFA want improved compensation in cases where landlords can serve incontestable notices to quit based on planning permissions.n
