Texel to 4400gns

BIDS topped at 4400gns when five Texel flocks – Douganhill, Courthill, Durisdeer, Rascarrel and Neills – presented females at a collective fixture at Carlisle.

Top call came for a 1998-bred ewe from Douganhill Farms, Castle Douglas and in the hands of farm manager Brian MacTaggart, the flocks best ever price.

The 4400gns call, from top breeder D Milne of Forfar, Angus, came for an entry by Cambwell Durie and out of a ewe by Ettrick Bullion. The twin-born sale topper was reserve female champion at last years Royal Highland Show and was in-lamb to Hull House Fisticuffs.

Best for Dumfriesshire breeder Mrs C Hastings Courthill flock was 3100gns for another 1998 twin-born ewe, by Craighead Dynamite, and out of a ewe by Annan Ygorra
