THE cost of a single cattle passport will rise to £7 when the industry takes over the cost of running the system in September, agriculture minister Jeff Rooker said yesterday (Thursday).

Interested organisations are being consulted on the scale of charges for the system, Mr Rooker told parliament.

The government has agreed to fund the cattle tracing system through its first year but said the industry should then take over the costs.
