Tories offer 1,000 rural rate cut
By FWi staff
THE Conservatives have pledged to give rural pubs, shops and businesses 1,000 discounts on business rates under new plans.
Cash help for hard-pressed rural businesses would be on top of any rate relief offered by the Government or local authorities before a general election is called.
The Daily Telegraph says the Tories believe this move will help it win back some of the rural seats lost to Labour in 1997.
